Call for Entries
Uncommon Threads invites you to participate in ThreadLines 2008, a juried exhibition of art quilts to open at the Missouri State University Art & Design Gallery in Springfield, Missouri on September 5, 2008. For a complete description of entry procedure:

Eligibility
The definition of an art quilt is an original work of art with two or more layers held together with stitches. They may contain any materials or use any technique. All quilts must be an original design. Creativity and non-traditional materials are encouraged.
Entry Fee
$25 (non-refundable) for up to three entries. Entries must be received by June 6, 2008.
Submission Guidelines
Artwork: Size may not exceed 60″ wide or 120″ high. Both two- and three-dimensional works are eligible. Each artist may enter up to three pieces.
Format: Jurying will be done from digital images on a CD in jpg format. Professional photography is encouraged and will better your chances of acceptance. Entries must include a full view image and a detail image for each quilt submitted.
Exhibition Rules
Work must be available for display from September 5 - 26, 2008 and must arrive ready for hanging or placement on standard sculpture pedestals. The curator retains the right to decline pieces that differ from the image submitted.
Insurance
Quilts in the exhibit will be treated with great care. The Missouri State University Gallery of Art and Design is a staffed fine art exhibition gallery and will insure all artwork while at the gallery at 50% of retail price. Artists are responsible for insuring their work while in transit to and from the gallery.
Delivery of Work
Accepted pieces are to be shipped directly to the gallery and must be received by August 20, 2008. Late work will be excluded from exhibition. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist. Use FedEx delivery and include a prepaid shipping label for return.
Sale of Work
Artwork may be for sale. No commission will be charged by the gallery or sponsors. Gallery will provide contact information to patrons wishing to purchase art from the exhibition. Artist is responsible for financial transactions and shipping involved in a sale of their work.
Awards
$1000 in prizes recognizing excellence will be awarded to artists by the juror for the following: Best of Show, Juror’s Choice, and First, Second and Third place.
